My Musical Monday (ft. Bryan Greenberg)

I feel like I say this every other post lately, but senior year is just the craziest thing. Usually there's kind of an easing in period for school, but this year it feels like we just jumped right in and got started! Between schoolwork, student senate, college applications, and dance, I definitely have a full plate. But that doesn't mean I don't have time to have a little fun with friends too!

Monday night, Megan and I went to go see Bryan Greenberg play at a local club. You might not know him as a singer, but you'd probably recognize him as Jake from One Tree Hill or as Ben on How to Make it in America , or from movies like Prime, The Perfect Score, or Friends with Benefits

But if you don't know his music, get on that, because this guy is amazing.

I also went to see him last year, and it was one of the best shows I'd been to in a long time. So, when he announced a few acoustic shows in the area, I knew I had to go. The venue was the upstairs lounge on a restaurant in the city, and such a neat place. The walls were covered in murals, and the low stage made for a really intimate, personal experience.

Opening and accompanying Bryan was a girl named Julia Sinclair. Check her out too, because this girl has a voice of gold. She played some originals and also did a cover of JT's "My Love" that definitely gave the original a run for its money. Bryan played a few of his own songs, and they did a few together.

Here's a few pics of the night:

I was lucky enough to be given Bryan's pick after his set was over-
a pretty nice momento to come home with!

Have a fabulous day!

To Be Honest

I've barely posted at all these past two weeks, and I feel like the posts I've done haven't been particularly creative.

I've haven't been feeling very inspired lately, and I haven't had many good ideas for posts.

So, here's my idea:
What do you want to see?
Leave a comment letting me know what kind of posts you'd like to see more of- beauty, fashion, my life, organization, etc.

Obviously I won't be doing this all the time, but I thought it'd be a good thing to get me refreshed and back into the bloggy swing of things!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Today, for the first time ever, I'm linking up with Little Daisy May for
What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving my followers- all 13 of you!
Thanks so much for your support and all the sweet comments you girls leave!

I'm loving that I started summer dance classes this week! It's only been two weeks since recitals, but I am so happy to get back to the studio four days a week with all the wonderful girls I dance with! Also, I'm taking jazz class for the first time in almost a year, so I am super excited for that tonight!

I'm loving that my senior portrait proofs will be coming in the mail any day now! I have a really good feeling about how they turned out, and I can't wait to see what they look like!

I'm loving that there is a new episode of Franklin and Bash on tonight! I've been watching it since it first premiered last month and I am totally hooked!

I'm loving that I have an adorable outfit picked out for the 4th of July!

Make sure to go visit Little Daisy May, link up, and let everyone know what you're loving right now!

Life Right Now

I feel like lately all I've been doing is obligatory weekly "sorry for the absence" posts. But this time I mean it. The last day of school is just 10 days away, so I will hopefully be back to regular posts soon, but for now things have been (and still are) SUPER hectic with projects, tests, the end of dance, etc.

However, I've definitely gotten a lot accomplished.

Today, I handed in a final project for my statistics class AND gave an hour long, skit and video based group presentation in my combined English and history class.

I feel so accomplished and am so happy to finally have a night off!
The crazy comes back tomorrow though, with my AP Government final and two days of dress rehearsals, followed by a weekend of recitals (Expect a post on that later!).

Blogger Blues

For the past few weeks, I've been in a little tiffle with Blogger.

Whenever I try to comment on someone's blog, the little drop-down menu where you select whether you'd like to comment as "Anonymous", through another social networking account, etc. there isn't an option to pick my BlogSpot account, even though I am always signed into it when I try to comment.

I've tried selecting the "Google Account" option, and am always taken to the Blogger sign in page. After signing in, I am redirected to the post with a preview of my comment. However, instead of my Blogger account being used, my post previews as being written by "Anonymous".

Does anyone have an idea as to why this keeps happening?
Please help!

EDIT:
I tried lowering my browser's security settings and that has seemed to work. Hopefully this will only be a temporary fix however, because the low security setting makes me nervous!

Weekend ChitChat

  • I made a run to CVS yesterday to pick up some pressed powder. This is what I cam home with:

I promise I am not a compulsive shopper or a hoarder. They were all things I've been wanting to try and at least two of the things were on sale, right!? I admit, the face wash is kind of a novelty. But don't lie, you know you were at least tempted by the Scrublet too! I got the Lash Blast Fusion hoping it would be even better than the original Lash Blast. Sadly, while it did lengthen really well, it didn't do much in the way of volumizing. And the eye shadow? I really have no way of justifying that- I just wanted silver eye shadow.
  • It hit me this weekend that I am taking my senior portrait this Tuesday. This is crazy. It's just the beginning of all the "senior things" I will be doing for the next year, and before I know it, it'll be June 2012 and I'll be graduated.
  • I edited the settings on my blog so that anyone can post a comment- even people without a Google account. So if you're reading this and you don't have an account, feel free to leave a comment!
  • I found this picture on Tumblr yesterday and laughed because it is so true:
(Fact: I am obsessed with the idea of Harry and Pippa getting together. Wouldn't that be too perfect!?)
  • I came in today and found my mom on the couch with my cat, watching Napoleon Dynamite. One more reason why I love this woman.
  • As I'm writing this, I have a horrible horrible sinus headache. I get them all the time and they are just no fun. Usually a couple Advil do the trick, but today I opened the medicine cabinet and guess what? There was only ONE advil left. Of course. So I took a generic ibuprofen, which helped until it wore off well before I could take more. Ugh. Thank goodness I only have about an hour left until its been 6 hours...

Have a fabulous week!

Weekend Recap/ First Followers!

Here's a little look into what I did this weekend:

Saturday morning began with a trip to the nail salon for manicures with one of my best friends- we'll call her F. Our busy schedules prevent us from being able to hang out as much as we would like (and confession: I hadn't had my nails done since December), so some girl time was definitely in order. I know it's spring, but I couldn't resist having my nails done in OPI's "No Spain, No Gain".

I liked the color so much, I bought a bottle to take home!

I had the manicurist not trim my nails- my fingers are so short I need all the length I can get!

On the way home from the nail salon, I got to witness what I consider kind of a big moment in F's life. We made a stop at the post office so that she could drop off her college deposit! She's a super talented artist and will be attending the school of her dreams this fall! I'd be lying if I said I wasn't extremely proud of her, and I know she'll do great!

My brother, M, had to work on Easter, so my family had our Easter dinner on Saturday instead. It was a small dinner, just my family, my uncle, and my brother P's girlfriend. For pretty much every holiday celebrated at my house we have "Thanksgiving Dinner" (Turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, etc.), but switch up the deserts- pie on thanksgiving, cookies on Christmas, etc. Since it was Easter we added ham to the dinner menu and had homemade cheese cake and fresh fruit for desert. It was a great dinner full of laughter and lively conversation- never a dull moment in my house! I ended the night with a little a little bit of relaxing TV- Sex and the City, Glamour's 25 Wedding Dos and Don'ts, and an adorable special about NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and his fiancee planning their wedding.

Sunday morning (aka today) was a late one. I slept in until 1 PM, and, I must say, it was quite nice. The day continued with a visit from my aunt and uncle, and just some relaxing and reading on my part. M had to work and P was out with friends, so Mom, Dad, and I ordered in Chinese for dinner. Later that night, mom and I wound down the weekend with the new Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie "Beyond the Blackboard"

The movie is based on the story of Stacey Bess, a new teacher who is assigned to run a school for homeless children, located within their shelter and literally referred to as "The School with No Name". Stacey, a wife and mother compelled to become a teacher due to her lifelong love of learning, takes on the challenge of educating these impovershed children, instilling a lifelong love of learning and a whole new sense of trust to children who would have otherwise gone without.

One reason my mom and I wanted to watch the movie is that both Emily VanCamp AND Treat Williams starred in it. Both actors used to be on The WB's Everwood, a show my mom and I were OBSESSED with, and it was sweet to see them working together again!

Also, an exciting piece of news- today I got not only my first one, but my first three followers! So, I'm giving a BIG thank you to:

Lauren
(my very first follower!)
Ciara
Ashley

Thanks so much girls!

P.S. Ciara's World puts a little note at the bottom of her posts whenever she gets new followers, which I think is a super cute idea, so I'm going to try and do that too!
